The sadly interesting thing about tonight's long sought clash between boxing's 2 undefeated heavyweight champions is that, in an ideal world, this fight SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING! This is because the sheer difference in size and weight between the two men who would be sharing the same ring tonight is simply too significant to correspond with a TRUE BOXING DIVISION, which Professional Boxing's Heavyweight Division has to a large extent failed to be since Olympic Boxing started producing high quality Super Heavyweights who would go on to compete against the naturally smaller Olympic Heavyweights in the professional ranks.
Oleksandr Usyk is clearly the greatest product of the Olympic Heavyweight Division in a long while, and he prove it by defeating his 2012 Olympic Super Heavyweight counterpart, the much more celebrated Anthony Joshua, in two fights in 2021 and 2022.
But this time around, he will be coming up against a quality fighter who is clearly the most skilled BIG GIANT (6 foot 9 and above), that BOXING HAS EVER SEEN!
Tyson Fury has a good if not spectacular defence! That means that, added to his significant height, reach and weight advantage, he has the tools to launch an effective defense tonight against Usyk. Usyk will have to take risks to beat Fury tonight! He cannot out defend Fury tonight.
Let's see how it goes.
BODA ANALYSIS
1. Offence Quality.
For a boxer his size, Tyson Fury HAS NOT BEEN a low volume puncher. Usyk's output against Daniel Dubois, who is not exceptional defensively, wasn't spectacular.
Verdict: Tyson Fury
2. Defence
For reasons stated above:
Verdict: Fury
3. Chin
Verdict: Usyk
4. Power
This is one area in which Usyk may have made significant improvements. But we are not sure. Fury is the one with more impressive stoppages at Pro Heavyweight.
Verdict: Fury
Predicted outcome. Fury by close unanimous decision
